How to Be Positive

Most people who are negative believe that they cannot get a positive mindset. They think it's too hard, that it's not them, or that if they 'pretend' to be positive they are just being fake.

You see, if you aren't positive, it is ingrain in you that you are a negative person. It Just who I am, you say to yourself.

There's a difference between believing that sometimes you have negative thoughts and actually believing you are a negative person. If you believe that you are a negative person then it'll be hard for you to change.

You might not even want to change, because you don't believe that you can change. You might think that if you change who you are, that what are you left with?

There's a myth about who you are, your identity that you must overcome before you can change. You have to believe in change, growing, evolution and improvement first before you can start the process.

 

How do I Change My Negativity into Positivity

 

Okay so you believe in change. That change is life and that you can't escape it. But you are still in a negative place. You might say to yourself,"I have nothing to be positive about."

You are waiting for something to happen to you or in your life before you start being positive. You wait for life to happen and positivity to show up.

There's a catch-22 with that thinking. It's goes back to they phenomenon of the chicken and the egg.

You can't be positive because you are negative, and you are negative therefore you can't be positive.

You can't be positive, because there's nothing to be positive about. There's nothing to be positive about because you aren't positive.

You aren't positive about life because there's nothing to be happy about in life. You aren't willing to take any action to make yourself happier because there is nothing to propel you to take action because you aren't positive.

You are not positive, because you don't do anything that would move your life positively. You aren't motivated to do anything to move your life, because you aren't positive enough to do it.

You see the chicken and the egg phenomenon? What comes first, positivity or positive actions?

 

But I'll Be More Positive When There's Something to be Positive About

 

You might feel like you will get your life together once there is something to feel good about. Let's say you're waiting to win the lottery, waiting for that job promotion, waiting for the love of your life to walk through the doors and pursue you.

You are waiting for something exterior to make you change your interior. You are waiting for something to happened to change your life, instead of changing your life right now.

This is an interesting situation...

It kind of make sense, because why be positive, do all these different things, get different habits? Now's not a good time, let's wait for something good to happened first before I change my life.

 

The Trap of Waiting to Become Positive

 

There's this great theory out there called "The Law of Attraction", which states that you attract what you are. That like attracts like.

The Law of Attraction, is a fact. Your brain have this system called the Reticular Activation System (RAS). Which acts like a filter between everything that's going around around you, or with your body.

If your mind were to process everything that's going on, from the smell and feeling of the air, the noises in the streets, the ticking clocks, the temperature, the feeling of your chair, your posture, your breathing, your heartbeat, and on and on and on... it will explode.

There are millions of things going on within us and all around us at the same time. So your RAS filters out what's important and what's not important.

A good example of your RAS in action is that if you ever bought a new car. You start seeing that same model car everywhere. Those cars were always there before but your mind just didn't notice it. But once you bought that car, your RAS kicked in and is train to notice those make and model of car.

If you are a negative person then you are constantly thinking negatively. Your mind and sub-conscious mind (RAS) sees everything that is negative.

You know the saying that it's not what happened that matters, but it's how you look at things? About the power of perception?

That's so true, and it all has to do with your RAS. So if you are a negative person, you will never become a positive person automatically. You have trained your mind, and your sub-conscious mind to always see negative things.

You will always look at everything in a negative light. The old adage about the cup being half-empty or half-full, for you the cup will be always empty.

You are only attracting negative things into your life. You are only thinking negative thoughts. You will look at your life and at the world through a negative screen.

You haven't realized that things are neither positive nor negative. That they are nothing, and all at the same time. It's all about perception.

So you see if you are a negative person, waiting for something positive to happen in your life before you start your life in a positive direction, then you will wait forever. Nothing good will ever happen in your life, because everything that will happen will be looked at through negative blinders.

 

So, How Do I Start to Become Positive?

 

In order to become positive if you are currently not, is to start with sparks of positivity. 

Sparks of positivity is to start looking for the little things that are positive about any situation. Start looking at the positive about everything.

Train your RAS to see the positive about stuff. Start small and start seeing positive about everything. You can ask yourself "what's good? " about everything.

There's always a bright side towards everything if you look for it. Make notes of the good stuff that's already good. Keep a journal about the good stuff that happened to you that day.

You're life will change guaranteed if you start seeing the positive about everything.

If you are a half-empty cup person, and see the world like an empty cup, gradually fill that cup up. Once you start, your cup will be fuller and fuller, until it becomes half-full. Then you will start to see everything fuller and fuller.

But you have to start seeing those sparks of positivity. You have to find in order to see. Ask yourself What's Positive about this? What can I take away from this that'll improve my life? What Can I learn from this?

When you start seeing those sparks of positivity, you are going to train your mind and sub-conscious mind (RAS) and you will notice your life start to move into a much more positive direction.
